The Beach Photos were taken in Ventura County, just north of Malibu. One of my favorite escapes from Los Angeles was to drive up the PCH from Santa Monica, through Malibu, stopping near the cliff. This day I took along my good friend Jan. At the time, our friendship was still somewhat new but that day we spent talking and getting to know each other. We left a sunny LA and ended up cold and windblown near the beach. We stopped at Neptune's Net to grab a soda and relax. As we did, the sun came out and added a nice warm glow to the day.

The Pool Photos were a play on light and shadow on my pool in Los Angeles. I lived in the area known as Los Feliz, just east of Hollywood. I spent many hours by that pool. One day I noticed the shadows and wanted to see how they came out on film using my Holga. I was very happy with the way the shapes of the shadows revealed themselves. My favorite is the shadow if the palm tree.

Wildflowers was taken on a hike on July 4th, 2003. It was the Circle X Ranch in Ventura, The Grotto Trail. This is the only one that came out because I decided to get more color shots on the way back. But that plan fell through when I went free climbing at the end of the trail and fell several feet. Helicopters and hot firemen were brought in. I was fine and this photo reminds of that calm before the storm, so to speak.

Philip's Backdeck was taken on a weekend getaway to Los Gatos, near San Francisco. Philip has a beautiful home in the mountains with so many amazing views. I love the details with Philip's house and decided to focus on those. This shot reminds me of that fabulous weekend where we got a chance to reconnect.
